Various devices are used to manufacture everyday essential items, including smartphones. Piezoelectric effect, or pressing force, is at work behind many such devices. Piezoelectric effect refers to a physical phenomenon where an electric field is induced when a material is put under homogeneous strain and distribution of charges changes accordingly. This effect, which only occurs in piezoelectric materials, is widely used in many electronic devices. However, a new electrodynamic effect comparable to piezoelectricity is stepping into the spotlight.
