Jong-yong Park appointed as IBS auditor

The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology (MEST) appointed Dr. Jong-Yong Park, a former Deputy Executive Chairman of Korea Industrial Technology Association (KOITA), as IBS auditor on December 22, 2011. Dr. Park started the day by receiving an appointment certificate from MEST's Minister Ju-Ho Lee. Dr. Park's three-year term ends on December 21, 2014.


Dr. Park earned a B.S. degree in economics from Seoul National University, and an M.B.A. from Michigan State University’s Broad Graduate School of Management. In 2003 he was appointed as Director-General of the Basic Science Human Resources Bureau at the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), MEST's forerunner. As Director-General, Dr. Park's work involved a number of different disciplines concerning the basic sciences.


The following year, Dr. Park started a three-year term as an attache at the Korean Embassy in Washington, D.C. From 2007 Dr. Park has held a number of science-related and technical administrative positions, including Assistant Minister of Public Relations & Planning Division at MOST, and Assistant Minister of Human Resources Policy Division at MEST.


In 2009 he was appointed Deputy Executive Chairman of Korea Industrial Technology Association (KOITA). Since that time he has spearheaded campaigns to drive industrial and technological innovation across Korea.
