The Institute for Basic Science (IBS) was established in November 2011 by the South Korean government with the purpose of advancing basic science. With its leading researchers and infrastructure, IBS conducts world-leading research comparable to institutes like MPG in Germany and RIKEN in Japan.
In order to foster the next generation of leaders in basic science, IBS and the University of Science and Technology (UST) established IBS Campus, UST. IBS Campus provides students with research-centered education by allowing them to participate in leading research under the guidance of distinguished researchers.
Students are provided with a generous stipend, tuition grants, dormitory and other benefits. Moreover, opportunities are given to participate in overseas training at renowned universities and research institutions, as well as international academic conferences and workshops.
IBS Campus operates an integrated MS/Ph.D. and Ph.D. program in basic science fields for outstanding students from around the world. Courses are associated with the major research areas of IBS Research Centers, and students who complete the program will receive a degree from UST.
