IBS Headquarters is located in Daejeon, South Korea. The city was selected as Daejeon has long been a R&D hub for the nation and is where the International Science and Business Belt is located. Of the 1.5 million inhabitants, around 20,000 are researchers in the roughly 100 public or private research institutes that are within the city borders.

There are several well-known schools in Daejeon, including the overseas accredited Taejon Christian International School. IBS may provide tuition support for this K-12 boarding school, along with other international schools in cities with IBS Centers, for family members of IBS researchers from abroad.
