In the last week of June, the “2023 Quantum Korea” was held at Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul. This event focused on quantum technology and provided a glimpse into the global trends of innovation in various fields of quantum science. IBS not only participated as a co-organizer in this event but also operated a booth on-site, engaging with many visitors.

At the IBS booth, there were presentations showcasing the five IBS research centers related to quantum research (the Center for Integrated Nanostructure Physics, Center for Theoretical Physics of Complex Systems, Center for Artificial Low Dimensional Electronic Systems, Center for Van der Waals Quantum Solids, and Center for Quantum Nanoscience). The booth also featured models where visitors could experience the principles of scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM), which are essential equipment for quantum research, and these exhibits attracted significant interest from visitors. Through this event, IBS was able to raise awareness of quantum research among the general public and emphasize the importance of fundamental research in quantum science to a wide audience.
