2024-1 Recruitment Announcement for Senior Researcher Position at the Theoretical Physics of the Universe

Dr. Miok Park, a Young Scientist Fellow (YSF) at the Institute for Basic Science (IBS, (http://www.ibs.re.kr)) in South Korea, invites applications for one senior researcher position in Theoretical High Energy Physics. Dr. Miok Park leads an independent research group in Particle Theory and Cosmology Group (PTC) in Center for Theoretical Physics of the Universe (CTPU) at IBS. If selected for this position, you will join her research group, supported by IBS-YSF funding, and become a member IBS-CTPU-PTC. This affiliation provides access to a broader research community, a comfortable and research-friendly environment, and increased opportunities to interact closely with researchers across diverse fields.

Research Focus: The position focuses on Gravity (especially black holes), Quantum Gravity, or Numerical Relativity.
The expected appointment date is April 1, 2025, and it can be adjusted to earlier or later, but no later than July 1, 2025. (early start preferred)

Appointment Duration:
*Initial appointment: 1 year
*Potential extension: 1 additional year (subject to performance review and funding)

Suitability for the position and for the field of work, excellence of the applicant’s research achievements, overall research activities, proposed research plan, etc. Approximately 5 times the number of applicants than the number of vacancies will be selected for the interview in order of the highest scores with the minimum average score of 80. Step 2
(Interview Screening)
Expertise in their field, attitude and communication skills, presentation skills, excellence of their research, development potential and prospect, etc. Final candidates will be selected in order of the highest scores with the minimum average score of 80.
※ The procedure allows for a successful candidate and up to two additional waiting list candidates per opening in accordance with the scores
There can be additional required documents according to the situation at the center
  • *A preliminary successful candidate may be determined within the range of two times the number of persons to be hired, and the effect of the preliminary successful candidate shall be limited to three months from the earliest of the scheduled appointment date or the final successful candidate's appointment date.
  • *During the validity period of the preliminary successful candidate, ① if the reason for the renunciation of employment or disqualification of the final successful candidate occurs, and ② if recruitment is necessary due to the withdrawal of the appointed employee, the appointment may be made according to the preliminary acceptance order.
