On the occasion of the seventh anniversary of its opening, IBS has published The Landscape of Knowledge 2018 – IBS Research Highlights & Analysis (hereinafter the “Performance Report”).

The Performance Report was created to make it easier for the scientific community and the public to share key research achievements that have been made since the opening of the IBS on November 21, 2011 and the launch of 28 research centers. The report consists of four chapters: ▲ About IBS ▲ Statistical analysis of research performance ▲ Highlights of the research performance of IBS ▲ External perspectives on IBS.

In the chapter addressing the statistical analysis of research performance, which is a core part of the Performance Report, the seven-year research outcomes of IBS were assessed objectively through the qualitative analysis of the excellence of IBS research based on five performance indicators: impact, excellence, efficiency, collaboration, and openness. Using inCites, a performance analysis solution of the global academic information service company Clarivate Analytics, the report compared the performance of IBS with major overseas basic science research institutes and presented analysis results with citations from reputable reports and indicators published at home and abroad.

IBS distributed the Performance Report to major Korean scientific institutions and universities and published it on the IBS website (www.ibs.re.kr) in the form of an e-book.

The English version of the report was also published in early 2019.
