Seven researchers affiliated with the Institute for Basic Science (IBS) have been recognized in the list of most globally influential researchers this year. According to the list of '2023 Highly Cited Researchers (HCR)' announced by Clarivate, a renowned academic analytics company, seven researchers affiliated with the IBS have been confirmed.

Clarivate annually identifies influential academics in natural and social sciences worldwide who have significantly contributed to their fields. This year, 6,849 researchers from 67 countries across 22 research fields were selected as HCR.

Directors HYEON Taeghwan (Center for Nanoparticle Research) and Rodney RUOFF (Center for Multidimensional Carbon Materials) have been named HCR in the field of materials science, maintaining their presence on the list for ten consecutive years since Clarivate announced the HCR list beginning in 2014.

Directors LEE Young Hee (Center for Integrated Nanostructure Physics, Cross Field), Axel TIMMERMANN (Center for Climate Physics, Cross Field), Associate Director KIM Dae-Hyeong (Center for Nanoparticle Research, Materials Science), and Research Fellow Kang Kisok (Center for Nanoparticle Research, Cross Field) have been selected as HCR for six consecutive years. Director KOO Bon-Kyoung (Center for Genome Engineering, Cross Field) was recognized again as an HCR after making his debut on the list last year
