Opening Ceremony Held for the Center for 2D Quantum Heterostructures

- Exploring Applications of 2D Quantum Materials in Full Scale Research Initiatives -

The Center for 2D Quantum Heterostructures within the Institute for Basic Science (IBS) held its opening ceremony on the 4th at Sungkyunkwan University's Natural Sciences Campus in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province. Attendees included IBS President NOH Do Young, Sungkyunkwan University President YOO Ji-beom, and prominent scholars from Korea and abroad.

Established in March of this year, the Center for 2D Quantum Heterostructures aims to conduct comprehensive research on the full lifecycle of 2D materials. This includes creating two-dimensional materials that exhibit quantum phenomena and developing technologies applicable in quantum information fields. Since its founding, the center has completed the relocation of space and equipment and has been preparing for the launch of full-scale research activities.

In conjunction with the opening ceremony, the center is hosting an international workshop on 2D quantum materials and quantum technology. This event provides an opportunity for sharing research outcomes and discussing potential collaborations with scholars from around the world.
