Bringing Together Leading Experts in Virus and Planetary Science- IBS to Host Consecutive International Conferences on Basic Science in Daejeon in July - - Joint 'IBS-KAI-KSV Conference on Infection and Immunity' by IBS, Korean Association of Immunologists, and Korean Society of Virology - - First 'IBS Conference on Planetary Science & Space Exploration' with Planetary Scientists as Attendants - An international academic event in the field of basic science will be held in Daejeon. The Institute for Basic Science (IBS) will host two consecutive IBS Conferences aimed at promoting scientific exchange and international collaborative research. The IBS Conference is an international academic event that brings together world-renowned scholars and influential speakers to share the latest research trends. Since 2013, IBS has been organizing these conferences to strengthen its international research collaboration network. The 'IBS-KAI-KSV Conference on Infection and Immunity,' jointly organized by the IBS Korea Virus Research Institute (Managing Director CHOI Young Ki), the Korean Association of Immunologists (KAI, President LEE Sang-Il), and the Korean Society of Virology (KSV, President YOO Seung-Min), will be held from July 17 (Wednesday) to 19 (Friday) at the Daejeon Convention Center. The 'IBS Conference on Planetary Science & Space Exploration,' hosted by the IBS Center for Climate and Earth Science’s Planetary Atmosphere Group (Led by CI LEE Yeon Joo), will take place from July 22 (Monday) to 25 (Thursday) at the IBS Science Culture Center in Daejeon. The IBS-KAI-KSV Conference on Infection and Immunity will feature about 20 world-renowned scholars in the fields of virology and immunology, including Yoshihiro KAWAOKA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Yi GUAN from the University of Hong Kong, JUNG Jae U from Cleveland Clinic, Kanta SUBBARAO from Laval University, and Adolfo GARCIA-SASTRE from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. IBS has also organized a session on immunotherapeutic techniques aimed at facilitating active exchanges between the biotechnology industry, academia, and local governments. The IBS Conference on Planetary Science & Space Exploration will gather scientists who have led various planetary exploration missions from around the world. Inviting 12 speakers from 10 countries, including the United States, Russia, and Germany, the conference will exchange research trends and information across various space science fields, including terrestrial and gas planets, atmospheric chemistry and dynamics, and the solar system. On the final day of the conference, a press conference will be held to explore the experiences of scientists who have led space exploration missions and discuss the reasons humanity should pursue space exploration. This conference is expected to foster in-depth discussions among global space scientists, as it will be held right after the COSPAR (Committee on Space Research) General Assembly, the world's largest space science academic event, which takes place in Busan until July 21. IBS President NOH Do Young stated, "We have organized academic events that address fields requiring international cooperation, such as viruses and immunity, and space exploration that requires collective human effort. We hope this conference will enhance exchanges within the scientific community both domestically and internationally and promote international research collaboration." IBS Public Relations Team 그림 설명
