IBS Conferences

Within Daejeon to IBS

  • There are two main ways to reach IBS headquarters from within Daejeon City; taxi and public transportation.
  • Taxi This direct form of transportation is widely available through the city. Taxis are relatively easy to catch, especially on a major street. The hardest times to catch a taxi are very early in the morning, late at night, or when it is raining. Cash, debit/credit cards, and transportation cards are all payment options but the taxi might be unable to process an overseas credit card. Taxis in Daejeon are typically silver, white, orange, or black in color. Black taxis are a more premium form of taxis and have a higher starting rate.

A “call taxi” service is available to request a taxi on demand but the service is limited to the Korean language. Use of such service also results in a KRW 1,000 surcharge which is added to the total at the end of the trip.

To avoid any potential confusion with a taxi driver, we recommend you say “hello” in Korean when entering the taxi (Ann-young-ha-say-oh) and then show them this note in Korean stating you wish to visit IBS. Taxis typically stop at the main gate of IBS HQ.

  • Bus There are multiple bus routes possible to bring you to IBS depending on your starting point. Buses 121, 705, and 911 stop relatively close to IBS HQ but may first need a transfer, depending on your departure point. The best way to find bus route information is through one of the main search websites as noted below.
    • - Google (map.google.com)

Mixture of English and Korean and provides information in additional languages, however information is not as accurate nor as updated compared to the major Korean search engine sites

    • - Daum (map.daum.net)

Website is Korean language only but app (Kakao Maps) is partially bilingual, accurate and up-to-date information

    • - Naver (map.naver.com)

Website is Korean language only but app (Naver Map Navigation) offers maps in Korean, English, Chinese and Japanese auto set to the phones default language setting and offers driving instructions in English. Website and apps are accurate and offer up-to-date information.

Cash and transportation cards (T-money and Cashbee) are possible payment options. Free transfers exist for bus – bus and bus – subway when using a transportation card and starting fares are slightly reduced when using a transportation card.

  • Subway The closest subway station to IBS HQ is 3 km away. As IBS is not located near a subway stop, we don’t recommend taking the subway unless you plan on transferring to a bus or taking a taxi after exiting the subway. If you do take the subway, get off the train at Government Complex Station (정부청사 Jeongbu Cheongsa), go out Exit 3, and catch a taxi or bus.
