Domestic City to IBS
- There are two main ways to reach IBS headquarters from within South Korea; bullet trains (KTX) and intercity buses. Once you arrive in Daejeon City, it is possible to get to IBS via bus, but the easiest method is to take a taxi.
- Bullet train
KTX and SRT (bullet trains) to Daejeon Station are available in a number of cities throughout the country. Other train stations in Daejeon include SeoDaejeon and Sintanjin (pronounced Shin-tahn-jeen) but neither are as convenient. If you are starting in Seoul and are north of the Han River, both Seoul and Yongsan stations are possible but Seoul Station has trains every 5 ~ 15 minutes and Yongsan has trains every 45 minutes or so. Standard seats cost KRW 25,000 and first class seats costs KRW 35,000. Travel time is approximately one hour depending on the number of stops in route. Seoul Station is accessible via Seoul Subway lines 1, 4, Gyeongui-Jungang, and AREX. Yongsan Station is accessible via Seoul Subway Line 1 and nearby Line 4 by Sinyongsan Station.
If you are in Seoul but are south of the Han River, SRT is available at Suseo Station, which is accessible via subway lines 3 and Bundang. Standard seats cost KRW 19,900 and first class seats costs KRW 28,800. Travel time is approximately one hour depending on the number of stops in route.
If you are in Busan, you can access both KTX and SRT trains which are available every 10 ~ 20 minutes. Travel time is between 90 minutes and two hours depending on the number of stops in route.
KTX tickets can be purchased both in person and online at http://www.letskorail.com/ebizbf/EbizBfTicketSearch.do Online orders must be claimed in person with your passport as identification before you ride the train. If you order your ticket via the English website but do not claim the ticket in person, your reservation is seen as unfulfilled and your seat could be resold to another customer. For train times please see the website link. Standard seats cost KRW 36,100 and first class seats costs KRW 50,500. Travel time is approximately two hours depending on the number of stops in route. Tickets do occasionally sell out.
SRT tickets can be purchased only in person if you are using English as their website and smartphone app are currently Korean language only.
Once arriving at Daejeon Station, go out the front entrance (Exit 1) and get a taxi from the line of taxis waiting near the entrance. The distance is 8 km, driving time is 18 minutes, and the fare is around KRW 8,000.
To avoid any potential confusion with a taxi driver, we recommend you say “hello” in Korean when entering the taxi (Ann-young-ha-say-oh) and then show them this note in Korean stating you wish to visit IBS.

- Bus There are multiple bus terminals in Daejeon and as different bus companies have different websites and smartphone apps, almost all exclusively using the Korean language, it is difficult to purchase bus tickets in a digital medium. The easiest method for buying intercity bus tickets is in person at your departure terminal.
Doryong and Chongsa Terminals
Doryong Terminal (대전 도룡 고속 시외 버스 정류장) and Chongsa Goverment Complex, (대전 정부청사 시외 버스 터미널) are the closest intercity bus stops to IBS. These bus stops don’t feel like proper terminals, so don’t be worried by the lack of facilities. To travel via taxi after arriving at Doryong, the distance is 2.8 km, driving time is 8 minutes, and the fare is around KRW 3,500. To travel via taxi after arriving at Chongsa (Government Complex), the distance is 2.7 km, driving time is 7 minutes, and the fare is around KRW 3,500.
Yuseong Terminal
To travel via taxi after arriving at Yuseong Terminal (유성 시외 버스 정류소), the distance is 7.4 km, driving time is 15 minutes, and the fare is around KRW 7,100.
Bukhap Terminal (Dong Daejeon)
To travel via taxi after arriving at Bukhap Terminal (대전 복합 버스 터미널), the distance is 7 km, driving time is 21 minutes, and the fare is around KRW 7,500.
- Taxi within Daejeon To avoid any potential confusion with a taxi driver, we recommend you say “hello” in Korean when entering the taxi (Ann-young-ha-say-oh) and then show them this note in Korean stating you wish to visit IBS.
